| It has been reported by the UKMTO that an incident occurred, 50nm West of Hodeidah, Yemen. Further confirmed information has been received stating that two projectiles were fired on a Marshall Islands-flagged tanker, after militants onboard a small craft had fired upon the vessel. One of the projectiles was destroyed and the other projectile hit the water 200 yards on the stern of the vessel. UPDATE: The UKMTO have received further information confirming that there were three armed persons onboard the small craft and as the craft came to within 0.5nm the embarked armed security team fired warning shots, resulting in an exchange of fire before the small craft departed the area. The tanker involved was then hailed by an entity declaring itself as the Yemeni authorities, directing the vessel to alter course to Yemen. When the explosion was sighted at the stern of the tanker, the crew mustered in the emergency station. The vessel and crew are reported as safe. | |||||
