It has been reported that an attempted robbery occurred on a tanker whilst anchored at Callao Anchorage, Peru. A small boat with six persons onboard had approached the tanker and duty crew spotted two robbers armed with knives, who had been able to board the vessel by crawling between the anchor chain and hawse pipe cover. The perpetrators threw the bar that secured the hawse pipe cover at the advancing crew, which resulted in the alarm being raised and the robbers escaping empty handed. The local authorities were contacted regarding the incident, however after several attempts, no response was received.
