Sea mines explode off Odesa and Mykolaiv Regions, Black Sea

Open source reports state that five sea mines of an undetermined type, exploded around the coasts of Mykolaiv and Odesa regions, Ukraine between the evening of the 25th July 2023 and the afternoon of the 26th July 2023 (the exact times and locations have not been specified). The first sea mine exploded on the black sea coast of Mykolaiv region, damaging several dozen windows of a nearby recreation facility. The second, third and fourth sea mines exploded near one of the beaches of Odesa, no damage was reported. The fifth sea mine exploded near Odesa close to the shore which resulted in damage being sustained to a nearby house. No injuries to people were reported. The Ukrainian Southern Operational command confirmed that stormy weather at sea has increased the danger from drifting mines as well as many explosive objects washing out to sea when the Kakhovska Dam was breached. |
