It has been reported that a Marshall Islands-flagged tanker has been detained by the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp whilst underway approximately 80nm Northeast of Sohar, Oman. The US 5th Naval fleet is aware of the incident and is monitoring the situation. A statement from the US Naval command said that Iran's actions are contrary to international law and disruptive to regional security and stability. The Naval command statement also requested Iran to immediately release the tanker. Clearwater will continue to investigate and will update this alert on receipt of confirmed information.
