It has been reported that there has been an attempted robbery on an oil platform 0.7 nm Northeast of the Tanjung Langsat Harbour Jetty, Malaysia. The authorities were notified that four robbers wearing masks and armed with knives had boarded, and were in the process of stealing belongings from the two crew members who were manning the platform, as well as other items of equipment. A Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency patrol vessel arrived at the scene to discover the four perpetrators in a fiberglass boat under the platform. Upon seeing the patrol vessel, the robbers attempted to escape by jumping into the sea. The patrol boat recovered the suspects and subsequently detained them. The two crewmembers have been reported as safe, but both suffered minor injuries after being beaten and restrained. The stolen items of equipment from the platform and items of the crews belongings were recovered and returned. |
