It has been reported that a robbery occurred on a barge under tow by a Malaysian-flagged tug, approximately 4nm Southeast of Tanjung Setapa, in the Westbound Lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme, Singapore Strait (exact coordinates were not specified). The Master of the tug reported to the local authorities that several boats had gone alongside the barge and a number of robbers boarded, stole scrap metal and escaped. Patrol vessels from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency were dispatched to the area and were able to intercept and detain a wooden boat, with six robbers and a quantity of stolen scrap metal onboard. The six perpetrators were Indonesian males aged between twenty three and fifty one years old. |
