Open-source reports state that a Panama flagged cargo vessel was intercepted and used as a shield by the Russian Navy whilst underway to Chornomorsk, Ukraine. During the incident, it was reported the vessel was struck and damaged by an unknown object. Unconfirmed reports believe that it could have been a sea mine that caused damage to the vessel. Four crew members are unaccounted for whilst two crew members were believed to be in a life raft. The vessel sunk off the port of Odessa the following day, 3rd March 2022. Igor Ilves, managing director of Tallinn-based manager Vista Shipping Agency, said the ship likely struck a mine, adding: 'The vessel has finally sunk. Two of the crew are in a raft on the water and four others are missing. I don't know where they are at the moment.' UPDATE: Further media reports are stating that all six crew members are accounted for.
