| Open-sources have reported that up to three Greek-managed oil tankers were targeted by drone strikes on Tuesday while in the Black Sea on the way to load oil at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal off Novorossiysk, Russia (exact time and location not specified). Initial reports from Russian sources indicate that a Malta-flagged tanker was struck by two drones, suffering minor damage to the deck structure with no injuries reported. The tanker is now underway, sailing away from the area, and remains seaworthy. A Liberia-flagged tanker was also reported to have been struck, resulting in a fire which was quickly extinguished. A Liberia-flagged tanker, has also been reported to have been struck near the CPC terminal; however, information regarding her status has been released. A fourth Marshall Islands-flagged tanker was also reported to have been hit, however the Greek management company have subsequently denied this. The CPC declined to comment on the incident, and Ukrainian authorities have not issued any statements at this time. UPDATE: Open source has now reported that only two vessels were involved. | |||||
